After getting sick from my own home-made lentil soup, I examined the
container of lentils in my cupboard. I had bought them from a bulk barrel
at a health-food store. In two cups of lentils, I discovered 20 wheat
berries, whole kernels of wheat. The store owner doesn't know if they
were contaminated in the store or at the original source.It was a good
reminder to me that I must check everything that goes into my mouth. I
can't take anything for granted.
