<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Hi. I'm new to this group and have never posted. I have been just reading to see if I fit in anywhere here. I never have loose stools, but I am frequently constipated and this comes and goes in cycles. It tends to be worse in summer when the pollens are out. (I have severe allergies, food included) Also, even though I exercise both aerobically and with weights, I have trouble gaining muscle and keeping muscle tone on my legs. I am increasing in size in my upper body (which must mean I am absorbing) and I have gained some weight even (which is unusual for me), but I have had this muscle tone problem and on and off constipation since I was a child. My antibody blood tests show very very high antibodies to gluten, gliaden (the only ones higher were garlic and eggs), and most of the grains. The test was called a 96 General Food Panel (IgG4). However, if I take lots of digestive acids and enzymes when I eat the grains, I handle them better. Many times whole grains, for bulk and the constipation, also give me some intestinal cramping. In addition, I have had a bone density scan done which showed, at the age of 50, that I have lost 1/3 of my hip and thigh bone. This is high, considering my age. So my question is - are any of these symtpoms signs of Celiac disease? Did I fit into the general symptomatic category? I welcome any opinions. :) Martha
