<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Just in case people are interested, we just came back from a fabulous vacation in Oakland, Maine. It is in the Belgrade Lakes region. They have cabins on a beautiful lake. Dining is on the American Plan with a full breakfast, lunch and dinner. The website is www.aldencamps.com. This is our eigth summer going, but our first going with celiac. I emailed them before we went and they were very prepared for us. They totally understood the concepts of gluten free and cross contamination. The chef is a chef during the year at a boarding school where some of the students have celiac. The pastry chef made sure we had gluten free muffins in the morning, gluten free cookies for lunch and gluten free bread and desserts for dinner. Not to mention all of the ice cream and chocolate mousse that is naturally GF. All the wait staff were educated on celiac so it didn't matter who we got to serve us. I would receive a typed dinner menu everynight (the entrees were written on the chalkboard for everyone else) with inappropriate selections crossed off. For breakfast, we either had GF pancakes (we brought the mix), eggs and bacon or GF cereal that I brought. For lunch there could be grilled cheese or other sandwiches on GF bread or different types of salads. I was needlessly apprehensive. They did a great job. * Please carefully compose your subject lines in all posts * Archives are at: Http://Listserv.icors.org/SCRIPTS/WA-ICORS.EXE?LIST=CELIAC
