And with the anti-diarrhea action that rice has we get a double benefit. But white rice will give a lot of people, celiacs and non-celiacs, gas. Brown rice doesn't do that. Plus I remember a macrobiotic granola head back in the late sixties who used to chant the mantra: If you eat brown rice you don't have the death wish :) It seems that is the one food that is balanced between Yin and Yang for microbiotic diets. -vance
