No reference to iodine in the first program of the series. Like selenium,
iodine is a micronutrient required in very small quantities. Being an
element, if the soils on which the plants grow and the animals forage do
not contain these trace elements, then they won't get into our diet.

After a year avoiding all added salt and processed foods, and suffering
chillblains for the first time ever and generally experiencing cold more
severely last winter than ever, and lots of irritating cramps, I have
started addding a little iodized salt to my meals every day or two. It is
certainly working for the cramp and seems to be working for the cold
(through my thyroid system) - but it is early winter yet!

Weston Price's work

is relevant in respect of depletion of minerals from soil.

BTW, as Australian soils, being ancient and weathered, are lacking in
selenium, I take a selenium supplement 2-3 times a week.
