Art De Vany has something to say about what he calls the X-look in terms
of its advantage in sexual selection.

While not disputing the appeal of the X-look, I feel the balance lies more
directly in favour of the ability to deliver rather than the appearance of
being able to deliver. Hence my own pics at:

Countering both of us comes this research:

http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/stories/s1147632.htm

which shows that preferences for the X-look appear at puberty rather than
at birth. However, the researcher "said more studies were needed to
determine if socialization or biological factors determined the
development of body-shape preferences."
