In reference to such verbal condemnation, I posted on the Socialist
Register list the following:

I had been subscribing to the Z-Net daily reports, and after this
petition circulated I cancelled my subscription. So did another person
on the lbo-talk list. I've ignored replies from ZNet or Albert, but the
other ex-subscriber reports that their responses consisted in asking how
could all those brilliant people like Chomsky, etc. be wrong. She was
not impressed. If I have not said it before, let me say it again: I
agree with the remark someone made years ago that Chomsky was a national
treasure (or resource -- I forget which term). His services to the left
(as those of Zinn and Said) have been invaluable. But that record only
makes their current error more regrettable (and dangerous). Fox news,
NYT, in case of a u.s. invasion of Cuba will delight on (selectively)
quoting that rabid anti-american Chomsky on how Cuba is even worse.

Albert's statement that he and others will oppose a u.s. invasion is
simply pathetic, and eliminates any remaining respect I might have had
for him. A nearly united left with an extraordinarily large mass
movement behind it could not stop the invasion of Iraq, and Albert
squeaks that, gee whiz, he will oppose such an assault on Cuba -- after
he has provided ammunition for such an assault.

Disgusting.
