Dear Members:

I am scheduled for a stereotactic breast biopsy on Mon. and i am especially
concerned about the stainless steel marker that they leave inside the
breast. Considering that celiac is an autoimmune disease and makes us even
more susceptible to other auto immune diseases I am concerned about the
effect of leaving the steel marker inside my body. I am extremely sensitive
and have many allergies but every physician whom i have consulted has
dismissed my concern. They feel there are no safety issues.

However in my search on the internet I have found cases of people with hip
or knee replacements that had problems with the stainless steel. The
surgical stainless steel does have a nickel component. I don't know if i am
allergic to nickel.

Has anyone here had this type of biopsy and marker? How are you faring? Did
you have any adverse effects?

Thank you for any info you could provide.

Annie.
