For carbohydrate intolerance, i.e. functional hypoglycemia, the
recommendation is to eat a high protein food (perhaps along with a comcplex
carbohydrate food) at least every two hours all day long. This would mean
smal snacks of cheese, perhaps with rice crackers, or of peanut butter,
cottage cheese, meat, fish, egg, etc. for example. Potatoes corn and rice
and sweets, if any, should be eaten as part of a meal or snack that contains
proteinwhich keeps the blood sugar on an even keel until the next snack. Milk
is Okay as a snack too.! Good luck. Amy Eliezer, RD
