We are considering purchasing a mountain cabin/vacation home that we would be willing to loan to friends and family without us, the owners, being present. We would not be renting the property to the public via a service like VRBO or AirBNB so everyone who would use knows us and knows (to some extent) about my celiac. While I'm not very sensitive I do have concerns about allowing use of the property without my presence due to some cross-contamination lingering. My boyfriend/partner says we may be able to set up some rules or guidelines but I know we can't expect people to eat GF when they're there without me. One idea I had was to leave items like tamari/pancake mix/favorite pasta, etc there for everyone's use and then encourage them to use it as instead of a wheat product, but it isn't realistic to provide a fully stocked pantry to everyone all the time. People are understanding when I'm there but who knows what people would do when they are alone. I hope people would be respectful but you never know.
This isn't the first time this situation has occurred so does anyone have any recommendations/suggestions for dealing with this?
Thanks,Allison in California
