I asked for recommendations for gf cereals for kids, and this is what
everyone sent me. I wasn't able to respond to everyone, but much thanks to
all who replied!

Cereals usually found in “regular stores”: Post Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa
Pebbles; General Mills Little Einsteins, Trix, Dora the Explorer Cinnamon
Stars, Kaboom.

Also Nature's Path corn flakes, Mesa Sunrise (doctored with cinnamon and
raisins), Health Valley Corn Crunchems and Rice Crunchems (similar to Chex),
Puffins Honey Rice (endorsed by another 3-year-old!), Malt-o-meal's Dyno
Bites, Perky's Nutty Rice and O's, Arrowhead Mills Maple Buckwheat Flakes.
Both KinniKinnick and Whole Foods 365 brand make a version of Rice Krispies
(which are especially good for making rice krispie bars).

Several folks recommended Bob's Red Mill hot cereal and gf oats, with
toppings added in as desired to make it sweeter or more palatable. I'm not
sure my nephew would eat either of these, but it's worth a shot.

Comments:

We recently went to Wegman's in Buffalo (we live in Toronto and always like
to visit US supermarkets to see what's new and different from what we can
get) - my son, ever the eagle eye on what he can eat, found a house brand
cereal in the regular cereal section labelled gluten free which was a fruity
rice - apparently kind of tastes like Fruit Loops with the same bright
colours but looks like coloured Rice Krispies. I don't know if you have
Wegmans close to you but their website does indicate stores in
Jersey http://www.wegmans.com/about/storeLocator/ . My son said they were
sweeter than the Envirokids and I wouldn't give them to him all the time (we
only bought one box anyway to try first!) but it makes him feel like he's
getting 'normal' stuff and of course is 'normal' priced, which I like.

We buy Erewhon off amazon.com, free shipping. usually around 2.50 a box,
during sale under 2.00. Cheaper and sometimes they run sales. We like the
crispy brown rice, crispy brown rice with berries, and the corn flakes. Not
the twice rice!! My kids wanted you to know they hate the twice rice :) We
tend to cut down our sugar so I buy both and mix them. The berries are
little sweeter.

Will he eat cooked cereal? Bob's Red Mill Mighty Fine cereal is tasty, high
nutrition (unlike cream of rice), and unsweetened, so it can be sweetened to
both her level of acceptable sugar and his taste. Also, what about Perky's
cereals--Nutty Rice, Nutty Flax, and the various ring-shaped ones
<http://www.perkysnaturalfoods.com/buyperkys.asp>? The former aren't very
sweet, but can be sweetened to taste. The latter are too sweet for me, but
might be just right for him.

Try any other GF cereal and add mini marshmallows to it. we usually add to
GF rice crispies. Health Valley Corn Crunch ems are a cereal the whole
family loves, GF daughter and all the rest of us.

She may want to try Erewhon's Rice Twice - it is my husband's favorite, and
he's a big kid! The cereal is a mix of lightly sweetened rice "crispies"
and rice puffs and seems like a pretty kid-friendly cereal. I buy ours from
Amazon, which makes it pretty affordable.

According to my to GF boys (8 & 11), Barara's Brown Rice Crisps tastes like
Rice Krispies, New Morning Cocoa Crispy Rice tastes like Cocoa Crispies and
Bakery on Main granolas are nummy with milk or yogurt. It took them quite a
while to find cereals that they would eat and I have to admit, when I've
tasted some of the ones they said were yucky, I couldn't agree more! Those
were definitely their favorites. They also, on a good day, will eat
Arrowhead Mills Organic Maple Buckwheat Flakes or the Envirokids cereals.
