Here's an update.

The one-step coeliac screening test developed by Cuban and Spanish
researchers Sorell et al. which makes use of a quick and easy-to-use test
strip is patented.  A corporate partner for a joint venture is being sought
through the Cuban Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology:

With only 288 visitors to this site since Oct. 8, 2002 as of today, Dec. 3,
2002, it may take a while to find a corporate partner this way.  This
screening test is truly worthy of a corporate partner who can get this
product off the ground and to the market quickly, a market that surely
includes the possibility of a do-it-yourself at-home coeliac disease
screening test kits.  Hopefully, US-Cuban politics will not get in the way
of the world-wide benefit this product can provide.
