Hello Listmates,

My 11yr.old daughter was diagnosed with Celiac 13 months ago. Due to
short stature and about 5 other "problems", countless doctors, we
were finally able to convice our pediatrician that her "petiteness"
was not normal...There begins our "life without"....My daughter is doing
amazingly well on this diet, she has gained 22 pounds in 13 months and
grown about 4 1/2 inches. She is still VERY small for her age. My question
is, for those parents who have gone through similar issues, did you find
it took a good 2 or 3 years on this diet before your child had a really
significant growth spurt? I still find myself hoping she will wake up
5 inches taller. My husband is 6 foot, i am 5'7..everyone in both our
families is tall, but my daughter is still so small. It would help if i
told you that she was undiagnosed for 3 years, she was in really bad
shape last July, at 10 years old she weighed 48 lbs. Her liver was
fatty, her chem screen was all abnormal... Her Gliadin AB was 267...so
you see she is a big time Celiac. Maybe i just need to be more patient.
But she is in middle school now, i fear the teasing, although that has
been going on forever.
I am just looking for some responses from people who have been in the same
boat.

Thanks everyone.
Betsy
