This subject hits close to home right now. My two year old had an
"equivocal" biopsy in June (villi were blunted - not flat). He has been GF
for 4 months but unfortunately has not been gaining weight or height the way
one would expect a celiac to respond to a GF diet. He is only 22 lb. His
pediatric GI is suggesting that we give it another two months and if he still
isn't responding, do another biopsy. That is, a biopsy without a challenge.

The thinking is that if the villi are still "blunted" gluten isn't the
problem. If they are not he is just taking longer than most to respond to
the diet. I will say that even though he hasn't grown a whole lot he does
seem happier since the GF diet but his stools are still loose.

Any thoughts?

Emily
