You can find out if a peanut butter product you include in your gluten-free diet has been recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination by checking with the FDA.

You will find a link to the FDA update of recalls on the News Flash/Current Events section at www.glutenfreeliving.com. The FDA also has a question and answer page for consumers.

You should check the FDA page frequently because more companies are issuing recalls because they use peanut butter made by Peanut Corporation of America. The FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention traced sources of Salmonella Typhimurium contamination to a plant owned by the company.

Also, it might be helpful to know that no major national brands of jarred peanut butter have been recalled.
