Checked with my local Chemistry guru, there is a very simple test that can
be used to detect the presence of protein in liquids. I am going to try it
using the assumption that the presence of any protein equals bad news. Plan
to use samples of various grain alcohols and various vinegars for a start.
Will post results when I am done.
