Hi all,
I have been asked about the 'tinyurl' by several listmates so am posting
for everyone. Good info to know.

When a url (website address) is ve-e-e-ry long and breaks into two or
more lines in an e-mail, you have to copy it, in 'parts', to paste it
into your browser address line (a real pain in the neck). By going to
www.tinyurl.com you can put that long address into a box on their home
page and their program will turn it into a 'tiny url' (short address)
that you can use instead. I knew how they worked but didn't know how to
make one. Someone on the listserv wrote and told me, after that Harvard
address broke up so badly. I had just been 'cut and pasting' every-time
I got a 'broken' url. I am very grateful to the person who told me how,
because when you insert an address to go directly to an article rather
than the website home page, that address is usually very long.

Thanks, again, MJ, for that info.
Karen,
Fremont CA

Hi Karen,

I am intrigued about how the tiny url brought me to the Harvard web
site. Will you please tell me how it is used?

Thank you.
