Purity Foods, which makes spelt, has applied for an exemption from food
allergen labeling, saying that spelt is not wheat, and that some people who
are allergic to wheat can tolerate spelt. I would think that the people
closely involved with the food allergen labeling law already know all about
this, but I thought I would pass along the information just in case. The
FDA site says:

"FDA has 90 days to object to a notification. Absent an objection, the food
ingredient is exempt from FALCPA's labeling requirements for major food
allergens."
