For those of you who have come to depend on Whole Foods for GF food, I want to alert you to what's happening in the Washington, DC area. Over the past few weeks, Whole Foods has taken several GF products off the shelves. In their place there are little "flags" saying "Discontinued."

This has caused quite a stir among the members of the Washington, DC Celiac discussion group. Many people (including me) have asked Whole Foods (from the in-store level up to the corporate level) what's going on. People have received word back like, "most people are happy with the change" and "haven't heard any complaints" or "I don't know."

So far they have removed all of the Pamela's mixes and two of the three GF Shelton's soups.

People on the DC list have started discussing where else to shop now that this has happened. Aside from small, local stores and chains (Roots; MOM's), the suggestions have included Wegmann's and Amazon Grocery.
