*Many people emphasized that celiac is a genetic disease that occurs after a person with the gene experiences a triggering event such as stress or illness.
*Another person reported a similar situation of child developing symptoms just after weaning.
*And another reported getting celiac pre-antibiotics.
*Someone pointed out that children with undiagnosed celiac often have general health issues and require (or not, depending on how you feel about antibiotics) lots of meds to deal with those problems. People may be considering anecdotal evidence and incorrectly concluding about causation—the antibiotics didn’t cause the celiac, the celiac may have triggered the need for antibiotics.
*antibiotics can interfere with the intestinal flora(good bacteria living there) and produce celiac-like symptoms including abdominal cramping and diarrhea—in anyone sensitive to them, not just in celiacs—perhaps giving rise the notion that they cause celiac disease.
