Dear Listmates:

This is regarding my post of Oct 19, 1999.

I had requested input regarding a friend in Chicago
(early 30s; Indian descent) who in the last few months
has been diagnosed with Crohn's disease, arthritis,
and Diabetes Type II. He also suffers from eczema. I
had wondered about the possibility of his being a
celiac.

I heard from 7 persons -- all celiacs (except 1 whose
son is a celiac) & no doctors.

The general consensus was that this person could very
well be a celiac and it does not hurt to get tested.

One suggestion/recommendation was for my friend to
contact Dr. Keshavarsian currently at Rush
Presbyterian St. Lukes at Harrison & Eisenhower in
Chicago.

Another recommendation was regarding U of Chicago. It
has excellent departments in Gastroenterology &
Endocrinology, with expertise in Crohn's disease,
celiac & diabetes. My friend was recommended to call
773-702-6140 (GI clinic) and schedule an appointment
with Dr. Eli Ehrenpreis, one of the GI specialists.

Furthermore, I was informed that the blood antibody
tests cost less than $200. The website to learn more
about these tests:

mentioned to be very reliable are:
