Tampa Wild Oats Marketplace to Host Celiac Awareness Event

WHAT: Celiac Awareness Event

The Tampa Wild Oats Marketplace is hosting a free Celiac Awareness Event on
Saturday, August, 18th from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. for families and customers who
want to learn how to live a gluten-free lifestyle and why more and more
Americans are being diagnosed with Celiac disease. Celiac disease is one of
the top 10 misdiagnosed diseases in America and is becoming one of the
fastest growing health concerns in this country. The millions of people who
suffer from celiac disease have an intolerance or sensitivity to gluten in
food.

Celiac disease, also known as celiac sprue or severe gluten intolerance, is
a genetic autoimmune disease. When someone with celiac diseases ingests
wheat, barley, rye, spelt, kamut, triticale, or foods containing gluten, the
villi (hair-like projections in the small intestines that absorb nutrients)
become damaged and over time, proper digestion becomes impossible.

Visit the Wild Oats Tampa Marketplace on Saturday, August 18th for a wide
variety of great tasting, high-quality gluten-free foods such as pasta,
breads, crackers and cookies. Wild Oats also has a gluten-free living
brochure - A Guide to Living Well Without Gluten - complete with lifestyle
tips, resources, food guides and more. In addition, Wild Oats specially
labels all gluten-free foods, enabling customers to easily identify and buy
gluten-free products.

Plus, there will be lectures and seminars by leading Celiac Disease
