Just want to throw my 2 cents in.

I have been diagnosed for 7 years and have had my share of challenges with prescription drugs, pharmacies and insurance companies requiring generic meds.

I work as a technician for CVS/Pharmacy in my area.  Lately I have had a couple of calls (at home!) from my pharmacist boss because someone had come in asking about the gluten status of a medicine (over the counter).

I know that pharmacists are not trained about celiac disease.

I know that "incipient ingredients" change from manufacturer to manufacturer and lot to lot.

Something else I have run into is that the warehouse sometimes changes the brand of generic it sends to the store.  We may have Teva one time, and Greenstone the next.  This means that you may have to check your medication EVERY TIME because the stuff on the shelf today may not be the same as the stuff on the shelf last time.  In this case, the pharmacist has no control over the brand in stock.

Just as with restaurants, we need to be patient, clear and kind to the people we deal with, so they will be patient, clear and kind to us!
