Boom Island in Minneapolis was very busy on Saturday, May 17th as hundreds
of people came to raise money for celiac disease research. A beautiful
spring day helped bring 850 people to our event. We were very proud to
see such a strong gathering of support. Our walk helped raise
approximately $72,000 dollars for the University of Maryland's Center for
Celiac Research.
There was a lot more besides the 3-1/2 mile walk that happened at Boom
Island. The day was filled with music, food and fun. Rich Gannon,
Quarterback for the Oakland Raiders and 2002 NFL MVP signed autographs
along with some of the most elite players from the NCAA Champion Minnesota
Gopher Hockey Team. Kids also got their faces painted and met Ronald
McDonald. We had tons of gluten-free treats for people to sample. Forty
people also went home with great door prizes.
Thank you to all who participated! We are already starting to plan for
next year!
