BENECOL Spread
From McNeil Consumer Healthcare regarding the new line of Benecol
products at grocery stores, the Benecol spread (like margarine or butter) as
well as the Benecol salad dressings are gluten-free! The Benecol snack bars
do contain gluten.

I called their toll-free #, spoke to their dietician and RN.
According to them, Benecol should not be a problem for Celiacs. It is not
like Olestra. It helps to reduce LDL, the "bad" cholesterol, using plant
stanol ester (derivative of pine tree). For more info, one could call 1 888
BENECOL (1-888-236-3265) or visit their website:
http://www.benecol.com and
http://www.benecol.com/about/qanda.html#gluten .

Feel free to pass this info along to anyone you think may be interested. I
of course have no interest in Benecol other than loving to cook and eat!
