I've been following the GF Communion conversation these past few months
as my husband (the one with CD in our family) is becoming a Catholic at
Easter.

There are so many different answers people are getting from their
priests! Unfortunately, I guess it depends on what the local priest is
willing to do. My advice (and I used to work at the Diocesan office in
my Diocese) is to find a sympathetic priest who's willing to help. They
ARE out there.

We've discussed this with our parish priest who told us that the Church
has *always* allowed for exceptions about the content of communion
wafers to protect someone's health.
