Friends,

Up late, searching the internet - there is a very good web site that lists
product recalls at http://www.safetyalerts.com/Default.htm . I glance at
it once in a while.

One recall notice that may affect some, as the product was made only 6 months
ago:

SafetyAlerts September 6, 2001 ConAgra Recalls Healthy Choice-Chicken
With Rice Soup Archbold, Ohio - (SafetyAlerts) -- ConAgra Grocery
Products Company, is voluntarily recalling approximately 290,000 pounds
of soup that is labeled as chicken with rice soup because it may contain
eggs and wheat flour that are undeclared on the label, the U.S.
Department of Agriculturea (TM)s Food Safety and Inspection Service
announced on Sep 5.

Wheat flour and eggs are both known allergens. People who have an allergy or
severe sensitivity to either of these items run the risk of possible allergic
reactions if they consume these products.

The product being recalled is 18.75 oz. cans of "HEALTHY CHOICE SOUPS,
Chicken with Rice." Each can bears the establishment number "P91" inside the
USDA seal of inspection and a product code beginning with "08NG."

The product was produced on August 21, 2000, and was distributed to retail
and wholesale stores nationwide.

"We urge consumers to check their homes for this product," said Thomas Billy,
FSIS administrator. "If they find the product listed above, consumers should
not eat it, but return it to the point of purchase."

The problem was discovered when the company informed USDA after receiving
customer complaints.

Consumers with questions about the recall may contact ConAgraa (TM)s consumer
hotline at (800) 414-2500. Media with questions may contact Kay Carpenter,
Corporate Communications, at (949) 437-1144.

Consumers with other food safety questions can phone the toll-free USDA Meat
and Poultry Hotline at 1-800-535-4555. The hotline can be reached from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m. (Eastern Time), Monday throughFriday, and recorded food safety
messages are available 24 hours a day.
