First of all I'd like to thank everyone who responded. I have received over
40 responses so far. It is so good to talk to people who have been or are in
the same situation as myself. I must say most of the responses told me to
have the children tested as soon as possible. A few disagreed with this. Some
people felt it is easier for children to adjust to the gf diet then for
adults. So we should have them tested now and if they are positive for
Celiac then start them on the diet as soon as possible. Others felt that if
the children don't have active Celiac then why start them on such a
restrictive diet if they may not need it yet. "let them enjoy being a kid
and eating all the wonderful things that go along with that as long as they
can." I still don't know what our decision will be but I want to thank
everyone for their advice and opinions. If I do have my children tested most
said to just have the blood work done and a few mentioned saliva tests. I
live in Southern Ohio. Let me know if anyone know of a good doctor I can
take them to and exactly what tests need to be done. Which blood tests are
most reliable? What are the Saliva tests called? I would love to take my
children to The Columbus Children's Hospital or a doctor who deals with this
hospital but dont know where to find one. Thanks again, Renee'
