Thanks to all who replied. We are still unsure about what caused a
gluten-like reaction after my daughter had her braces put on, however we are taking all
of your wonderful advice and hopefully by the next appointment, we will have
it under control! The following are my responses, including Colgates GF list
in response to my inquiry regarding orabase and phos-flur. Thanks again to

in toothpastes. Our sorbitol is corn-derived.

Perhaps the gloves they wore had powder on them. I always ask for the
power-free gloves, just in case.

My celiac daughter had a heck of a time with her braces. Her orthodontist
swore nothing contained gluten. We tried eliminating her use of their
pre-pasted toothbrushes(they always had the kids brush with them before
their appt.) and that worked for her. It did always seem worse after any
major appt....new appliances etc.

Our daughter got sick from the rubber bands used in her mouth in
conjunction with the braces - they were apparently dusted with flour.
The manufacturer (3M) said they didn't know if they were dusted with
flour but would get back to me and never did.

Go to a health food store and get her
the homeopathic remedy Veratrum Alb 30c...2 pills under the tongue after
each bowel movement. It stops gluten reactions cold. Costs $5 in heatth
food store...recommended by my md

when i got my braces at 12 they hurt so bad that it made me have a migraine
and nauseaous. they put all this crap in your mouth before they put them on it
could of made her sick. It also is just an EXTREMLY painful process that could
stress a person out to being sick. I know when I am stressed my entire body
stops functioning properlly. Also Oral B said Celiacs shoudl not use any of
their products so if she used braces floss from them or if they cleaned her teeth
prior to putting on with oral b it could do it.
