Listmates,

I received several friendly and helpful posts regarding travel to China. I
will summarize them below.

Here is a great link to the Chinese script explaining the diet:
http://www.zoeliakie-info.de/Sprachinfo/Chinesisch/chinesisch.html

don't overlook nuts and dried fruit. I make a trail mix with nuts, raisins,
and chocolate (but then, I'm lucky, chocolate doesn't seem to affect me as
it does some.)

Check out www.AlpineAire.com They have some items that are GF and they are
great for traveling because they come in a self heating package. You pull
the string and the meal heats itself.

Many posts stated that they had not trouble finding food in China due to
the prevelance of rice/vegetables. He travels with a 12 ounce stainless
steel wide mouth thermal mug for this purpose.

When I went to Europe for a month I packed GF puffed rice or corn
cereal in single serving sized ziplock bags. Fill the bag, press out
the air and zip closed. You can now use the filled bag as cushioning
material (think styrofoam peanuts) or stuff the bags into shoes, etc.

They consume a lot of fish. Ate fish, rice, my canned tuna and my
crackers which I brought with me. If you are staying at a small hotel,
they may be better able to accommodate you - hopefully. We were eating
at many different places on a tour while there. Good luck with the
food, and congratulations for your new baby. Oh, yes, I was usually
able to order egg drop soup - no soy sauce in that!

I'll let you know how things go.

Joe
