Hello,
I am having difficulty getting pharmacists to fill my prescriptions. Basically they are telling me that they are too busy to make the necessary telephone call to confirm gf status. I have taken the Stokes book to them and have had my physician order the meds from the Stokes reference. They simply have to double check with the maker of the drug--I even gave the 800# to them! This has happened at local businesses and at chain pharmacies.
I asked a lawyer who deals with discrimination if this is something illegal. She believes that there are no laws that prevent discrimination against a person's disease. Only laws for discrimination of sex, race...et.
Has anyone else been descriminated against due to celiac disease? Is anyone working on making a law that protects celiacs from this kind of discrimination? Teresa
