SnoCoCeliac New Meeting Location

Hello All:

On Tuesday, November 8 at 7pm our group will reconvene at the Northshore
(Bothell) Group Health Clinic at 11913 NE 195th St. in Bothell. My previous letter
gave directions from the North or Eastside taking I-405 which said:

From 1-405, take the Beardslee Blvd. Exit. Turn east onto N.E. 195th St.
Continue through the second stoplight. The medical center is on the right.

However, after driving to the clinic on a dark rainy night, I decided to
rewrite directions from Seattle or the Westside. For any of you who attended our
meetings at Lake Forest Park, you can continue along Bothell Way past Lake
Forest Park toward Bothell and continue with the following directions. For those
who did not attend Lake Forest Park meetings here are directions from I-5:

Take I-5 North to 145th Street Exit. Head east on 145th Street until you
reach the Lake City Way/Bothell Way junction. Turn left (north) onto Bothell Way.
Go to the junction of Bothell-Everett Highway, Main Street and Bothell Way. Go
straight onto Main Street. Continue through 3 four-way stops as Main Street
turns into Beardslee Boulevard, which becomes 112th NE. You will then pass
through 2 traffic lights. After you pass through the 2nd light, you will see the
I-405 freeway on your right just before the road angles right onto NE 195th,
you will pass over I-405 and then pass through a 3rd traffic light. After you
pass through that 3rd light you will see a YMCA sign on your right. Right next
to that sign is the driveway for the Group Health Northshore Clinic.

ONCE YOU REACH THE CLINIC either via I-405 or the Bothell Main Street route,
continue around to the main entrance of the clinic. As you face that main
entrance, you see an "EVENING ENTRY ONLY" door along the wall to the right of the
main entrance. That door will be open for our members between 6:30 and 8:45
pm.

AFTER YOU PASS THROUGH THE 'EVENING ENTRY' door, you can take the elevator on
your left or stairway straight ahead to the 2nd floor. At the top of the
stairway, angle left to CONFERENCE ROOM A, which will be on your right. As you
exit the elevator, go straight ahead. You will see a sign on the wall which says
"CLASSROOM/ADMINISTRATION" with an arrow from 'classroom' pointing to
Conference Room A, which is our meeting room. If you miss that first door, you'll see
another door into Conference Room A further along the hallway. Either door
leads into our room.

MEETING AGENDA: NEW BUSINESS

We'll begin by welcoming any new attendees to our group and greeting old
members.

In the WHOLE FOODS (65th & Roosevelt) Bakery section I found a display of
GLUTEN FREE BAKERY PRODUCTS, which included quick breads, muffins, cookies and
cakes.

Let us discuss doing a Holiday Cookie Exchange (with ingredient lists beside
each batch of cookies) for our December meeting.

Feel free to share any other gluten free product news or celiac related
experiences at this point, before we begin our meeting discussion topic (which I
will again describe in this email):

NOVEMBER DISCUSSION TOPIC: LIVING AND EATING WITH NON-CELIACS--HOW TO COEXIST
WITHOUT CONTAMINATION:

Let us consider questions such as: How do you prevent cross-contamination in
your kitchen where non-celiac family members or housemates also prepare gluten
containing foods? Do you attend non-celiac parties or dinners with friends?
How do you ascertain whether there will be safe foods for you there? How do you
explain your food restrictions to non-celiacs about your eating restrictions?
How do you explain celiac disease to non-celiacs? How do you tell your family
members or friends that you're having food intolerance reactions and don't
feel well enough to attend social functions? How long after your CD diagnosis
did you eat out with non-celiacs? Did you stick to celiac friendly restaurants
or did you request 'safe' food in non-celiac restaurant? What would you tell a
newly diagnosed celiac about eating/living with non-celiacs?

WE WILL END OUR MEETING PROMPTLY AT 8:30PM. SANDY LASLEY WILL BRING FREE
SAMPLES FROM ALPSNAKS WITH INGREDIENTS BROCHURES, WHICH YOU CAN TAKE ON YOUR WAY
OUT. IF ANYONE NEEDS TO LEAVE EARLIER, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO GO, BUT DON'T FORGET
THE FREE SAMPLES.

Hoping to see you all on Tuesday night ...
