You have told us how much you enjoy our pot lucks--so we are going to feature a pot luck at the quarterly meeting of the San Antonio Celiac Support group. Here are the details:

When: Saturday, 16 August, at noon
Where: Covenant Presbyterian Church, 211 Roleto Drive, Kitchen area

The pot luck will begin at 12 noon, with the general meeting following.

If you have been to one of our pot lucks before I don't have to tell you how delicious the foods served up for our gluten-free enjoyment are. If this will be your first meeting, imagine being able to choose freely from enticing salads, entrees, vegetables, breads, and desserts--all gluten free! Not sure what to bring? Don't worry, if it is a favorite of yours, your fellow celiacs will also like it!

We do ask that you bring a list of the ingredients in your dish to place by it on the buffet counter. Some people have additional sensitivites or allergies--and who better understands their need to know everything in the selections offered.

If your recipe is original or modified with at least 3 changes to make it gluten free, bring a copy of it, with your name on it, and give it to me for the Recipes page of our newsletter--or send it to me by e-mail ([log in to unmask]).

During the meeting following the meal, you will be provided an opportunity to fill out a questionnaire provided us by Dr. Peter Green, the noted gastroenterologist who heads the adult celiac clinic at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Your information will be useful for their study of the quality of life for celiacs.

Do you have some favorite gluten-free products that you want to let newly diagnosed celiacs know about? We have started a Sample GF Suitcase to have at each of our meetings. You can bring empty containers or packages to the meeting to be included in the Suitcase. It helps when shopping to have a picture in your mind of what you are looking for.
