Thanks for all the responses from the RDs on the  list.  You all  are great.
The overwhelming response I got is that it is angular stomatitis caused  by 
an iron deficiency which could very well be the case since my daughter  is 
a teen and menstrating regularly and does not take any iron  supplements.
Also could be Vit. A  or B2, B3, B6 and B12, or folic acid so we  will look 
into it.  I'll have the dr. do some blood work.
 
I was also told that there are several iron studies and a regular CBC may  
not be enough.  Other tests recommended are Fe. Ferritin, TIBC,  and 
Transferritin. This I did not know so thanks for that.
 
Some mentioned a fungal infection and recommended using antifungal creams. 
 
I'm sure we'll get tot he bottom of it now that we know where to  look!
