The brightest stars in gluten-free cooking will join the area’s top chefs
for the 7th annual Appetite for Awareness, a day of delicious food and
family fun to be held Sunday, October 24th at the Philadelphia Cruise
Terminal at Pier One at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.


Among those showcasing their culinary talents during Appetite for Awareness
2010 include:


Chef George Perrier: Famed Frenchman behind renowned restaurant Le Bec-Fin,
who will be recognized at the event for his dedicated service to NFCA and
leadership in raising gluten-free awareness.


Chef Monica Glass: Pastry Chef at 10 Arts Bistro and Lounge whose
gluten-free advocacy efforts were recently featured in the Philadelphia
Inquirer. Diagnosed with gluten sensitivity in 2009, ‘Chef Moni’ strives to
transform the way people see and eat gluten free.


Silvana Nardone: Former editor in chief at Every Day with Rachael Ray
magazine and author of Cooking for Isaiah. Silvana will sample and
demonstrate delicious, easy-to-make gluten-free recipes and be on hand to
sign copies of her highly acclaimed book.



Sports fans also have a reason to celebrate at the first ever Beer Garden,
featuring big screens and game friendly gluten-free snacks such as pizza,
hoagies, bratwurst and beer. The Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders and mascot
Swoop will also be on hand to provide some game-like atmosphere.



Additionally, Appetite for Awareness will feature a Children’s Pavilion,
filled with family friendly entertainment and wide range of tasty treats for
celiac kids!


Guests attending the event will all enjoy sampling a variety of gluten-free
creations from over 35 of the area’s premier restaurants, an open bar that
includes gluten-free beer and wine, and an active marketplace showcasing
products from more than 85 the nation’s finest gluten-free vendors.


Appetite for Awareness 2010 the will take place from 2-6 p.m., with the
Gluten-Free Cooking Spree, Vendor Marketplace, Beer Garden and Children’s
Pavilion open through the duration of the event.


Tickets purchased in advance receive a discounted rate of $50 for Adults,
$25 for Students with ID and $20 for Children (under 12). Admission fees at
the door are $75 for Adults, $35 for Students with ID and $25 for Children
(under 12). Discount family package pricing in also available.
