According to an article in THe New York Times today, Saturday November 7, Senator Mikulski drated the health committee's drug labeling provisions, calling for "drug fact boxes" that would provide quantified risk and benefit information" on all prescription drugs. 

Why not get her to include requiring precise listing of all ingredients, active and inactive, on all medications, brand name and especially generic, so that potential allergens are clearly identified.

Many of you share my profound dismay that we are increasingly forced to rely on generic medications and that the manufacturers, often located in farflung places, are often not reachable and do not make known the ingredients of their products in anyway that is accessible to the consumer. (I have found out that the pharmacies probably do recieve the specifications at some time in the course of purchase but they discard those pieces of paper, so we are left with no information.)
