Thanks so much to everyone who responded to my question regarding whether or
not soy is contraindicated in people with hypothyroidism. This summary is
long overdue - I apologize. The following two responses pretty much condense
the issue.

One nutritionist wrote to tell me that according to directions from one of
her textbooks, soy should not be ingested within three hours of taking
thyroid medication for hypothyroidism.
