Thanks to those who responded to my request for information about eating at
Chick-fil-a and their new GF buns. I received 11 responses. No one reported
a reaction. Only one said that cost was an issue. Four have problems with
quinoa or other grains in the bun, so won't be trying it. Only one has
actually tried the buns. Here's a brief rundown of the answers:

Christy tried the bun and said it would have been better toasted, but
enjoyed having the filet on a bun. She says, "I would not eat it every week
but for the occasional treat it was refreshing to eat like a 'normal'
person."

Lois from Michigan said it was very nice and different from Culver's.

Lisa in Tennessee has had the grilled nuggets and fruit many times without
problems. She doesn't mind paying more for the buns.

Donna has eaten there without problems often; she always asks them to change
gloves. Won't be able to eat the buns due to other allergies to other grains
and dairy. Says it's a very clean restaurant.

Jean has eaten there often, appreciates their efforts to serve celiacs, and
doesn't mind the extra cost.

John's celiac daughter likes the waffle fries and milkshakes. He wishes the
breaded chicken was GF.

Maureen is also sensitive to quinoa and won't be trying the buns, but they
consider Chick-fil-a one of their "safe stops." They eat the grilled
nuggets with sauce, salad, fries, fruit, and lemonade.

Richard says that when you order, a message goes back that this is an
"allergen" order and the workers are supposed to change gloves. He's eaten
there a handful of times with no problem.

Tracey says she used to just eat the salad and fries, but likes the new
grilled nuggets. She has never had a problem. Hopes to try the bun soon,
doesn't mind the extra price, and is thrilled about the variety of grains
being used in the buns. She notes they are flexible about what they serve
for breakfast and will serve you nuggets and fruit for breakfast.

Linda is sensitive to quinoa, so because of that and the price won't be
trying the buns, but admires the company for their efforts.

One person mentioned that she checked the Chic-fil-a website and saw that
the chicken was coated with flour. I followed up and looked again at what
was GF there. Of their chicken products, only the grilled nuggets, grilled
chicken fillet, and grilled salad are gluten free, so be careful when
ordering that you stick to the items that are GF. All of the regular
coated/seasoned chicken contains wheat. I also found a PDF list of allergens
on the Chick-fil-a website, and all the egg products are listed as
containing wheat.

Also, while no one reported a problem with cross contamination, be aware of
their strong disclaimer about it. The only items that don't come with the
disclaimer are the wrapped ones:
Honest Kids Appley Ever AfterR Organic Juice Drink
Cinnamon Apple Sauce (Buddy FruitsR)
Milk
Simply OrangeR Orange Juice
Waffle Potato Chips (catering only).

I appreciate all the reports on your Chick-fil-a experiences!
Pam
