I wanted to share my daughter-in-law's reaction to a celiac topic discussion on one of the news/information shows on TV this morning.

She called me this morning kind of upset at what she heard. (I think it was on CBS, but I didn't see it.) She said that whoever was on the show gave out some misinformation -- "After six months on the gluten free diet, the intestines will be healed." My adorable DIL said, "I know that's just not true. You have to stay on the diet for life" Of course we know that the celiac expert, whoever it was, was talking about healing the damage to the villi in the gut, but to my DIL being "healed" means being "cured." She thought they were stating that staying on the diet for six months would result in being cured of celiac disease thus giving false hopes. I can't help but wonder how many other people out there may have gotten the same impression. Perhaps those experts who represent us need to chose their words more carefully! ~Valerie in Tacoma
