Subject: please help - gluten reaction
---------------------------------------------------------

Thank you to all who replied. I received some very helpful information! I
appreciate all your help!!

Most agreed with the length of time how long symptoms can last - average 3-7
days and also can last up to a month or more.

Symptoms people listed were: stomach aches/rumbling, cramps, bloating,
diahrrea, gas, vomiting, dizzy, depressed, headache, chills, weak/shakey, general
aches and basically not feeling well.

The recommendations received were:
- flushing your system with lots of water, herbal tea or liquids in general.
- keep eating foods that will "attach" to the toxins to better get them out
of your system.
- general flu/allergy medications for headaches and body symptoms, i.e.
tylenol, nyquil, alka-seltzer, metamucil, allergy medications.
- homeopathic remedies: veratrum alba; Nux Vomica 30c which is useful for
overdoses of any kind -- it's called the hangover remedy; Phosphorus 30c (very
thirsty for cold drinks); and Arsenicum Album 30c (THE food poisoning
remedy). Take a few pellets under your tongue, only one remedy at a time, and then
repeat if symptoms return. If one remedy doesn't work, try the other ones.
- clay: A bentonite type will work, though I find most of them clump badly
when you try to stir them in water, and there is a white one that tastes
awful. What I prefer is Pascalite, which has no flavor and stirs readily into
water.
- epsom salt baths.
- salt water enema.

I personally used epsom salt baths with essential oils for detoxing and body
aches in general - helped some. I drank tons of water and detox herbal tea.
I ate very light and easy to digest foods. I took a general homeopathic
allergy remedy with nux vomica in it and that helped. One night I had a dose
of pepto-bismul which calmed my stomach a little. I didn't do anything
strenuous all week. I'm still taking herbal preparations for constipation since
that is still a problem for me. Five days and I am now pretty much done with
the flu-like achy symptoms. Basically, just tired and feel worn out. So it's
seeming average for length of time to feel better.

On a side note... This was not due to contamination. It was my mistake
with taking bite of gluten bread. Only one bite and I realized what I had just
done. For over 4 years I have been kind of anal about gluten in our house!
Just ask my husband and daughter ;-) Anyway, it just goes to show that
anyone at any time can and does make mistakes. Hopefully a lesson learned to pay
attention!!!

Thanks again everyone!!
Sherry
