Hello!
I am sorry to bring up another biopsy question. I have read through the
archives, well, most of them, but was really unable to have my question
answered (I don't really have tons of time to research it, either).
I have been gluten free for about two months--feeling great! After much
debate, I am going to have a biopsy done. My doctor says that I should be
eating gluten for two weeks before hand (but no wheat, due to a probably wheat
allergy, for which I"ll be tested in a week). He also said I could wait
another month or two, while maintaining a gluten free diet, before starting
the two weeks of gluten before the test, saying that it didn't matter how long
I have been gluten free--be it a month to two years, so long as I ingest
gluten two weeks beforehand.
I thought that the longer one stayed gluten free, the more one healed, and
possibly the longer it takes to do more damage to the villi. Or is it
different for everyone?
The reason I am not diving into the gluten straight away is because I just
started working and wanted to wait another month or two before ruining my life
again! But, if it makes any difference in the possiblity of making sure I
have the best conditions for a possible positive test, I will stop work in a
few weeks.
What do you think? I will summarize.
Thanks for your time and help!
Saskia
