I've been GF now for about 15 months, and low gluten for 9 months
before that. Since I didn't have much in the way of serious GI
symptoms (gas and stool changes, but no agony or diarrhea), the main
change with me has been an alleviation of my fatique and my severe
airborne allergies (the main symptom of which was also fatigue). Each
allergy season has gotten better along these lines, until I can
actually say, for the first time in years:

"I'm enjoying the summer!"

I'm gradually getting used to being able to go outside without bracing
myself. I only run my HEPA filter inside on windy days or after the
grass gets mowed. I can actually work in the garden for hours at a
time!!! It's so liberating, and so dramatic, I just wanted to share
with new folks that going GF can have all kinds of good effects.

I'm still not sure what the mechanism is by which celiac affects
airborne allergies, btw, except that intestinal permeability ("leaky
gut") from inflammation is associated with airborne allergies. If
anyone has more info, I'd love to hear about it.

Laura
