Hello, my name is Trish and I am from South Africa. I am 27 years old and
have bee diagnosed as born with CD. However, my mother only put me on a GF
diet when I was 2yrs.

I have not been extremely strict with my diet, and have no intense reactions
when I do "cheat". I am very interested to get more information on the
mental implications as I do suffer from memory loss when I cheat
extensively, and I cannot remember much of my childhood years.

I have a 5 year old son whom I have not had tested yet. He has had 2 hernia
operations (one at 9 months old, and the other at 18 months), he has had
gromets in his ears for 3 years running, his tonsils were very large -
they've been removed, and his adenoids have also been removed. Is all this
related to CD?? He is however on par intellectually with other 5 year olds
(his co-ordination may need a little work) and he is growing well - he has a
very healthy appetite, but must have a quick metabolism as he is not a fat
boy for the amount of food he eats.

I enjoying reading the mail and learning from all of you. It is encouraging
and informative.

Thank you.

Trish Kent
