The following message came in late - long after the other quinoa/unusual
grains with or without gluten summaries had been sent. I thought it should
be forwarded, so here it is:

>The only way to have a scientific answer to the grain controversy is to have a
>controlled experiment with half the subject taking the grain and half not.
>There is no way to wimply look at the grain since each grain has a slightly
>different protein compound and the question is how close that compound is to
>the gliaden in wheat. Tha is why they still don't know if oats (which are far
>more prevalent in American diets than amaranth or quinoa) are GF.

It seems that Dr. Fasano and his group in Baltimore are going to try to
have a meeting about gluten-containing foods. That sounds like real
progress. You can bet I'll make every effort to get to Baltimore, and I
hope many of you will also be there - although I guess the date and time
are not yet determined. How wonderful that they are taking this initiative!
