I believe this to be misinformation.  The UK Coeliac Society states "All
vinegars including malt vinegars are gluten free - malt vinegar contains
trace amounts of malt extract which is considered safe for Coeliacs".
Additionally, the only acoholic drinks they suggest avoiding are "beers,
lagers, ales and stouts."  This information taken from the most current food
list valid until April 1998.
