Once again, this list has been a lifesaver. All the responses I got were
basically positive.
To recap: Claritin is a newer antihistimine on the market with very little
reported side-effects. Since Benedryl was apparently questionable wrt GF
status and has nasty drowsiness as side effect, this appeared to be a new
possibility.
Based upon your responses that it was likely gf, I tried it myself without
any apparent gluten reaction whatsoever (and I consider myself quite
sensitive). Many others here have recently also tried it and reported to
me similarly. The listed ingredients are not even suspect, except a few int
he liquid. As such, I was not too worried and quickly took other's words
here as confirmation that it is not a problem.
As an antihistimine goes, I'm not too sure its as strong as I personally
need it... and indeed has no noticable side-effects... but at least it
appears to be GF. This applies to not only the tablet form, but also the
liquid form. I tried both and had no gluten response. Had there been
gluten, I would have known by now. This is good news for those of us who
need these types of medications.
Thanks again for all your help.
Joanne
