I understand your concerns about doctor not being very helpful - I,
too, wish I had a doctor that showed more knowledge about the disease.
Last fall when I was diagnosed after lots of disgusting tests (I asked
to be tested for this in May but was told I didn't fit the profile) I
went on a gluten free diet and in 10 days felt better. I say go for it.
It can't hurt you.
