Thank you for your responses to my request for GF cough medicines for my
daughter. I received some conflicting information from members of the LIST,
so I contacted additional pharmacies in my area. Blue Ridge Pharmacy in
Raleigh, NC submitted a research request for GF cough medicines to Cambell
University's Drug Information Center. Evidently, this research group is
available only to pharmacists and physicians.
I was elated to receive from the pharmacy today a 6 page exerpt from the
American Pharmaceutical Association's "Nonprescription Products: Lists for
Patients with Special Needs '96-97" containing a list of GF nonprescription
medications not only for coughs/colds but for other ailments as well.
To my surprise, neither Robitussin nor Triaminic (which had been recommended
from the parent of a celiac child) were listed. Some GF cough medicines for
children on the list include:
Creomulsion Cough Medicine
Tuss-DM
TheraFlu Flu, Cold, & Cough Medicine
Scot-Tussin DM
You may want to ask your doctor or local pharmacy to contact the Cambell
University Drug Research Center for such information.
