Someone asked if foods marked "kosher for passover" are gluten free. Many
passover foods have matzo meal, cake meal, cake flour as ingredients. If
so, they do contain wheat and should not be eaten. Matzo is made from wheat
and water, is baked rapidly (hence it doesn't rise) and then is ground into
flour again for cake flour or into larger chunks for matzo meal.
However, products without those ingredients are almost certainly completely
wheat-free, and likely to be gluten-free. Passover is an ideal time to stock
up on packaged cookies, soups and other passover foods, but read the labels
carefully to avoid added matzo products.
