We often hear statements like this from many people with good intentions
but a lack of knowledge about where gluten is found. Since this is a
totally false statement, it is impossible to pinpoint the exact reason
for the mistake. It is hard to believe that a large company would make
this mistake, but it appears that their choice of words did create some
confusion to a potential customer.

When talking with a chemist, we often incorrecly hear that products with
corn contain gluten. Another case is glutenous rice. This is just
another name that means sticky rice. These are all classic examples of
the use of the term, gluten, and its mutliple meanings.

The proteins that are toxic to celiacs are not found in iron. They are
vegetable matter that is found mainly in these grains (wheat, rye, oats,
and barley).
